The Cats of Kilkenny

I found a reference to "the cats of Kilkenny" in my great-uncle's account of the first Battle of Manassas. I'm thinking of using it in some analogous way in the book I'm writing about the Civil War, perhaps in the title itself:

There once were two cats of Kilkenny.

Each thought there was one cat too many.

So, they fought and they fit,

And, they scratched, and they bit,

Till, excepting their nails

And the tips of their tails,

Instead of two cats, there weren't any!
