Go, Mike, go!

I don't know how many of you socks were able to catch Gov. Mike Huckabee on Hannity & Colmes this Monday, but the more I hear from him the more I like him. Here are a few of the things he had to say:

1. On the war in Iraq - He disagrees both with the "shock and awe" theory of the hawks and the "cut and run" cries from the left. Instead, he advocates a new policy of "snatch and grab."

2. On leadership - True leaders don't make decisions based on public opinion polls. Those that do, are just "thermometers," gauging the heat of a given issue. What America needs is more "thermostats," people who won't just tell you how hot it is but will actually try to do something to change the temperature.

3. On tax reform - Our federal tax system is broken and won't be fixed with the tap of a hammer, twist of a screw driver, or a little duct tape. It needs a complete overhaul.

Now, some critics will say Huckabee is a little glib with his remarks. And, I suppose they may be perceived as a little jingoistic. But, keep in mind that he has a proven record of putting his philosophies into action as Governor of Arkansas.

With Giuliani's liberalism, McCain's age, and Romney's questionable credentials, I find Huckabee to be a beacon of light in this otherwise muddled field of GOP candidates.

Yeah, but can he win? I like Mike, but I'm not going to give my heart and soul to another candidate who might quit, or simply can't win. I did that once. That is enough for my lifetime.

I really think Mike can win, and here's why:

1. Giuliani performed admirably in NYC in the wake of 9/11. But, he is too liberal to appeal to the GOP base. He won't make it thru the primaries.

2. McCain's time has come and gone. He's become the poster child of the troop surge. And, his campaign is imploding.

3. Romney's flip-flopping will kill him the same way it killed Kerry in the last general election. And, unfortunately, a lot of people have a problem with his religious affiliation. He has too many hurdles.

4. Huckabee has a solid record to stand on as the former governor of a sunbelt state. The dems are poised to nominate a senator with a flimsy record in the legislative branch of government. They haven't been successful with that formula since 1960. (You think they'd learn!!)

5. Huckabee has fresh ideas on the myriad of issues that face this country, which he has articulated better than any other candidate.

6. Huckabee has been a consistent conservative, and walks the walk. Actually, he runs the run, losing 110 pounds with his new diet and exercise program.

I am really excited about this guy, and am optimistic that he will make a good showing in the Ames straw poll. Hopefully, it will be good enough to vault him into that "upper tier" the media is so fond of citing. Then, more people will hear his message and get to know him.

The more you know about him, the more you'll "like Mike!"
