I don't know if it's my predisposition for all things genealogical, but I am often pleasantly surprised when I stumble upon unexpected kinships.

Well, it happened to me again today.

This time it was over a business lunch over by UCF, not too far from Rouse Road.

Somehow the question was raised about who or what the namesake of the road was, and two of us simultaneously answered that it was named for the Rouse family cemetery. The angel pictured here stands guard over the burial ground.

If not for the extreme heat, said cemetery would have been in easy walking distance from where we were partaking our meal.

Anyway, we got to comparing notes, and it turns out that we are at least related by marriage, if not thru a common ancestor.

Don't run into a whole lot of that in this town full of newcomers. But, it's cool when it happens!

Genealogically, not sure if that's logically, but what was the connection? Is Rouse the connection? Does it connect with the Morgan line?

Interesting story, on my FB page, when I posted a photo of the Morgan reunion and tagged cousin Diane Morgan Brown, an old friend of mine from acft mx officer school at Chanute AFB (now shut down), commented that he has ancestors/relatives in nw VA, Morgans AND Browns. Coincidental and yet not. Curious to see now if there is a link...

Yes, the connection was thru the Rouse family. Two Rouses married two Ivey girls. My ggg grandmother Sarah Matilda Ivey (1844-1915) was their aunt. She's on that ahnentafel I've got posted online.

Keep me posted on that AF friend's potential kin-nection!

Seems like somewhere recently I found a Rouse waaayyyyyyy back in the Morgan line. Colonial times. Wouldn't that be funny? It'll probably take me some time to find that one again because I've been trying to put some files away!
