Again, without a mobile phone today!

Just a week ago, yours truly was experiencing high-anxiety at the hands of our friends at SprintNextel because he had no operable mobile phone.

Today, however, I have no one to blame but myself, as I left said phone on the kitchen counter during the mad dash out the door.

Odd how it's not nearly as anxiety-inducing when the culprit isn't a soulless corporation . . .

In fact, it's strangely liberating . . . or, at least it will be until I get home to find out how many "very important" calls and texts were received during our separation . . .

RIP, mobile phone . . .

In case any of ye socks have been trying to reach yours truly via his much-coveted mobile phone number, I must warn you that technology has failed us all this fine summer day.

So far, our friends at SprintNextel have been unable to revive my dead cell phone.

We've not given up all hope, mind you. But, a replacement has been ordered from their fancy warehouse up in Atlanta, and should arrive "no later than Friday."

In the mean time, "old-fashioned" email might be the best way to stay in touch . . .

Reunited, and it feels so . . . whatever

In recounting the trauma endured last night, yours truly forgot to mention the SECOND mobile phone incident to occur this week.

This time, said contraption was left sitting on my desk at work overnight.

Although this was a strangely liberating feeling, I did at least have sense enough to bring my charger into the office this morning so we don't have a THIRD incident!!

I thought these devices were supposed to make our lives easier?!

Not so much . . .

Routine disruption

Being a creature of many habits, yours truly discovered today that a disruption of one can have a cascading effect on the rest of the day . . . and, that's not necessarily a bad thing!

Case in point: today. As I was rushing out the door to work, I realized that I hadn't plugged ye olde mobile phone into the charger last night.

Hmmm . . .

New phone. Haven't tested it before. Maybe, it'll hold yesterday's charge for another day . . . or, at least thru work hours?

Unfortunately, no.

That was the down side.

The up side has been that dead cell phones don't ring, so it's been an unusually quiet afternoon around this little corner of heaven. Even had time to whip up some homemade quesadillas!

But, fear not, said mobile phone is back on its charger as I type this . . .

Who's calling, please?!

Ok, ye socks, I had something unusal happen yesterday that's worthy of tossing in the dryer for your opinions.

Within the span of 20 minutes, yours truly received three separate phone calls from "unknown callers."

I don't make it a habit to answer such calls, so relegated them to voice mail.

But, none of the mystery callers bothered to leave a message.

Anyway, I did a reverse directory look-up and found all three numbers were traceable to the same small town north of Orlando.

Only one of the searches produced a name, but it was not one that I recognized.

Very odd.
