March Madness

Having had another 24 hours to further digest the recent constitutional travesty, I am pleased to see our state's attorney general Bill McCollum is taking the lead on filing a lawsuit against the ObamaNation's stealth scare scheme.

Florida, along with eleven other states (so far!) have filed suit in federal court at Pensacola, claiming the socialist agenda is unconstitutional. I'm pleased to see the AG from Louisiana, a Democrat, standing by our side on this one.

Virginia, for a variety of reasons, has filed a separate suit up in Richmond. The basis of their claim is that the mandates issued from on high by Pelosi, Reid, and their ilk, conflicts with existing state law.

Furthermore, it is my understanding that at least 32 other states have either put into place, or are in the process of creating, legislative and constitutional challenges in a variety of forms.

So, America isn't just sitting back and taking it.

I love it!

It sounds like this version of "March madness" may just be settled in the courts, too!

Hope and change, y'all!

Rights vs entitlements

What a travesty last night's vote in Congress was.

Simply put, it is the product of ignorance.

I'm not saying the perpetrators of Socialized Stealth Scare are ingorant. Far from it. Rather, the people who drink their KoolAid are the real dopes.

For instance, let's clarify the definitions of the words "right" and "entitlement."

Rights are endowed by our Creator. They are inalienable. They are NOT granted to you by the government. You are born with them.

Entitlements are simply government hand-outs. They are given or taken away at the whim of our illustrious leaders.

Of course, Socialists have been purposely using the word "right" for "entitlement" for many years, and not just as relates to Stealth Scare.

Back in the days of the late great Soviet Union, they decreed every comrade had the "right" to free food.

Those of us with a little gray hair remember how well that worked for them. Everytime we saw a news report about a grocery store in Moscow, it showed lines of people snaking around a city block. And, when the reporter asked them what they were waiting for, they never knew. They just figured since everyone else was in line . . .

Eerily similar to what's going on in the ObamaNation, no?!

I fear we have not only trashed the Constitution, but have also bankrupted ourselves and future generations . . . wonder if our unborn great-grandchildren are experiencing buyers remorse this morning?!?

I guess they're entitled to feel that way . . .

Who saw this one coming?!

In Massachusetts, the bluest of blue states, the same Senate seat has been held by a member of the Kennedy family or their surrogate for half a century.

That's going to change as the poll results roll in from the Bay State tonight.

It looks like former Democrat "shoo-in" Martha Coakley is going down in flames.

Behaving as arrogantly as her would-be peers on Capitol Hill, she discounted the political acumen of her Republican rival Scott Brown and the dismay of her would-be constituents . . . so much so that she took time off the very short period of time leading up to this special election to take a Caribbean vacation.

May this give Harry Reid and his ilk pause in their on-going effort to ram Stealth Scare down our throats.

The people have spoken.

Get ready to get scrooged.

In case ye socks ever doubted the fact that The ObamaNation is completely out-of-step with the real concerns of the American people, I offer you the following poll results.

53% of the American people put the economy & jobs at the top of the national priority list.

Yet, the current occupant of the White House is spending most of his time pimping his global redistribution of wealth plan as THE answer to global warming (an issue only 2% of us put atop said priority list).

And, his minions in Congress are ramming thru their stealth scare legislation in the middle of a blizzard, thumbing their noses at the typical holiday recess.

Only 10% of us put health care reform atop the national agenda. Even that is a misnomer. Health care in this country is the best to be found anywhere in the world. Access to it, and affordability are the things that really need to be reformed. And, you don't accomplish that by socializing the delivery mechanisms.

Yet, this is the path we are on. Printing up more greenbacks to hand out to developing countries so they will halt development in the Quixotic pursuit of global cooling. And, the double-whammy, we're poised to hand over 1/6 of our national economy to the DC beltway brain trust.

Yeah, those things will kickstart the economy and put people back to work.

Hope and change?!

How many port-o-lets does it take . . .

Usually, Sunday mornings are a wonderful experience around this little corner of heaven. There's coffee with that decadent flavored creamer. There's the comfy chair and ottoman. And, there's all the news shows that help yours truly keep up with what's going on in the world.

But, I am just about ready to blow a gasket this Sunday morning.

For the life of me, I can't understand how the media is giving The Disaster in Waiting a pass on all his crappy cabinet nominees.

We've got an incoming Secretary of State whose been shaking-down world leaders to the tune of millions of dollars to support her morally-bankrupt husband's "foundation." And, we're supposed to believe she won't take who gave how much into account when she's in charge of our foreign policy?!

We've got an incoming Secretary of Treasury who hires illegal aliens and doesn't pay his taxes.

We've got an incoming Attorney General who pardons tax dodgers and domestic terrorists.

At least Bill Richardson had the decency to bow-out.

But, all the others are on the fast track to get rubberstamped by Harry Reid and his ilk.

I guarantee you, if it was John McCain or any other incoming Republican president nominating people like this to top cabinet posts, the media would be outraged.

Instead, we get wall-to-wall coverage of how many port-o-lets are going to be in DC for the coronation on Tuesday morning. No matter the number, I guarantee they'll all be overflowing by noon with so many people who are so full of crap being on hand . . .

Hold on, Harry and Henry!

Senate Majority "Leader" Harry Reid and Comrade Henry Paulson seem far too eager to pass the big $700 billion bailout plan thru Congress.

First, Reid erroneously stated that there was bipartisan support for the plan. The last I heard, John McCain wasn't on board. While he did say "further inaction is simply not an option," that doesn't mean he's in the rubberstamp business.

$700 billion is a lot of money, almost incomprehensible. So, let's break it down into terms everyone in this country can comprehend. That is $10,000 in additional debt that every household in America is being asked to assume.

I don't know about the rest of ye socks, but ten grand is still a sizeable chunk of change in this little corner of heaven.

I do not profess to be a master economist by any stretch of the imagination, so am willing to defer to the experts when they assure us that SOMETHING must be done fairly quickly to avoid complete chaos.

But, I'm with McCain on this one. Some provisions really need to be incorporated into any bailout scheme, including:

- Defining the level of governmental oversight for those entities accepting bailout money.
- Addressing the ridiculous executive compensation packages to cap salaries and eliminate "golden parachutes" for any business that feeds from the government trough.
- Demanding transparent accounting practices to restore public confidence.

Washington and Wall Street have become far too cozy. We don't need to make it any easier on them by rushing through the Paulson plan. We do need to know what we're getting ourselves into, and that's worth at least a few extra days of careful examination. The price tag on this one is just too large to do any less.

And, hold on to your hats, folks. I hear the auto manufacturers are waiting eagerly in the wings to see how all this goes, because they want to float the bailout balloon for their industry, too . . .

Is capitalism dying in the USofA?

Iraq progress report

I don't know how many of you socks stayed up late enough to catch El Presidente's live address to the nation on the success of the troop surge in Iraq.

Suffice it to say that progress is being made, much more remains to be done, but the success of the surge to date means several thousand of our troops will be returning home by Christmas (and will not be replaced with fresh units).

Overall, I'd say that was pretty good news, echoing the report delivered to Congress by General David Petraeus earlier this week.

So, imagine my surprise at the Democrats' response to the news.

Ok, ok, I was NOT surprised at all.

I've been saying for quite some time that the Dems have vested interest in seeing our mission fail in Iraq. They want our troops to have to withdraw in disgrace. I guess they see it as the best way to improve the pitiful public opinion of their Congressional leadership.

Just pathetic.

Here's an exercise for you. Draw a line down the center of a piece of paper. On the left hand side, write down the names of everyone who have a stake in a stable Iraq. I come up with the American people, our troops, the Iraqi people, etc., etc.

Now, on the right hand side, write down the names of those who want to see democracy fail in Iraq. If you're an honest sock, you'll come up with Al-Qaeda, Iran, Syria, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, etc., etc.

Like it or not, Dems. You shall be judged by the company you keep.
